Daniel Cho, Violin

 

Winner of the 2009 Great Mountains Music Festival Competition, Daniel Cho started playing the violin at the age of six. As a soloist, he has performed with Sejong Soloists, Anyang Chamber Orchestra and Sungnam Youth Symphony. Since 2005, he has participated in the Great Mountains International Music Festival ( Gangwon Province , Korea ) where he appeared in the Rising Star Series and performed with the Gangwon Youth Philharmonic. As a chamber musician, he has performed with the Rose of Sharon Quartet and went on tour as a member of Sejong Chamber Players to Dominican Republic , Colombia and Costa Rica . As a chamber musician and soloist, Mr. Cho has been a part of the Music School Series presented by the Sejong Soloists and Samsung Experience. As an up-and-coming soloist on New Yorks concert scene, Daniel Cho currently attends The Juilliard Schools Pre-College Division as a scholarship student studying with Hyo Kang. He has given numerous chamber music performances around New York City and in Korea , including Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall (2008) for the Winner's Concert of the 10th New York Competition. He is scheduled to record Mendelssohn Concerto in D minor for Violin, Piano and String Orchestra later this year for Universal label. Daniel Cho performs on a J. B. Guadagnini, 1758, on generous loan from Higgin Kim, Chairman of Byucksan Engineering Co. Ltd. This concert marks Daniels New York recital debut; he is the youngest artist presented in the KMF New York Debut Recital Series over the last 25 years.
