Dear Friends,
I am writing to let you know that we have a candidate for President-Elect of CLC-USA: Ady Viera, of the South Florida Region.
As a result of your suggestions to our diligent Nominations Committee, there were four possible candidates contacted for the position of President-Elect. Each of them went through a discernment process, individually and communally, to determine whether they were called to serve in this position. Three of them arrived at the decision that they are not called to serve as President-Elect at this time. But with the discerning support of her community in South Florida, Ady Viera has informed us that she is ready and willing to serve in this office if she is elected.
There are many aspects of Ady's skills and insights that could be included in this announcement, but I will mention only a few points for those who have not worked with her during her recent term as a member of the NCC. Ady has a deep understanding of Ignatian spirituality and discernment, with a rich experience of both guiding individuals and also training individuals in dynamics of the full Spiritual Exercises. Her deep commitment to the apostolic dimension of CLC life has long been evident in her involvement and leadership with service projects and service programs in South Florida and internationally. We can truly be grateful for her generosity in accepting the nomination.
The NCC is required to formally elect a person to the position of President-Elect. The term of office for this position is scheduled to begin on July 1, and it includes the President-Elect becoming a member of ExCo. As Secretary of CLC-USA, Barb Rudolph will be contacting you with a Doodle poll, so that we can select a date sometime in May for an NCC teleconference call when we will convene for this formal election process.
There will be more information forthcoming about the election process and a personal presentation by Ady herself, but I wanted to share this good news with you just as soon possible.
Let us pray for Ady and for one another.
Blessings.
Ed
